3. Once I place my order online, how do I know it will be processed?

Once you submit the order using our online orderform you will receive an email confirmation of the order. It is very important to type your email address correctly to receive the confirmation. If you DO NOT receive an order confirmation within the day you place the order, it is possible the order was not properly transmitted. We have no way of tracking lost orders so it is your responsibilty to follow through by calling us at 1-800-947-3222 to check on the order.Declined credit cards will be notified via email. Orders that cannot be fulfilled for other reasons {i.e. lack of notice, area not serviced etc} will be notified via email. Due to the high volume of orders that are processed it is not possible to call you. Please be certain to check your "filtered" box if there is no confirmation in your "inbox".

4. What time will the cake be delivered and what if no one is at home?

We can not specify a delivery time as the USPS does not guarantee time for delivery. Once the package has arrived at the recipient's postal station then delivery time is assigned by the local Carrier. If no one is at home the Carrier will use his/her discretion to leave the package or not. If the Carrier feels it is not safe to leave the package a notice will be left with further instructions for the recipient. Carrier will update the tracking information and you can check on the status by using the link that is provided in your email confirmation. Unforeseen problems may cause delays i.e. weather, traffic etc; however, we can not be responsible for USPS scheduling. Priority mail is very reliable and we have had wonderful results!

5. How much notice is needed to place the order?

We ask for minimum 5 business days lead time {more notice is appreciated during peak holiday months} for all orders. If it is less time we do our best to accommodate your requests on our next possible shipping days. We do ship USPS priority air on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Please know military packages can take up to 2 weeks to arrive so advanced notice is preferred.

10. I would like to order a pie for delivery on a specific date, do you guarantee that?

Pies are shipped to arrive on the date you indicate, however, on rare occasions there may be unforeseen changes through the USPS that could cause the arrival date to vary by a day. Please be aware that we cannot be responsible for the USPS scheduling.

11. Can I send a pie overseas to a loved one in the military to an APO/FPO address?

The pecan pie is the only pie flavor that can be shipped overseas to APO/ FPO addresses! Great lengths have been taken to determine the shelf life for shipping. Hundreds of pecan pies have been shipped to the military and they have been well received. Pies are packaged securely for shipping, please know, the time frame once in military hands could be up to 11 days. click here

12. I would like to send a cake overseas to a loved one in the military in Iraq or Afghanistan to an APO/FPO address, can it be done and will the cake be good?

Orders are no longer being accepted for military addresses in Iraq. The postal service has issued a deadline of Nov 17, 2011 when all mail service (to and from) will cease.

We are fortunate to be able to send an 8" single layer cake, split and filled with white frosting and frosted and presented for shipping overseas to APO/ FPO addresses! The cakes are baked fresh,frosted and shipped immediately but the time frame once in military hands could be up to 14 days. We use innovative insulation and refrigerant products while packing the cakes and pies.Cakes have traveled to Iraq in 100 degree temperatures and have been enjoyed. In case of extreme summer heat it is best to refrigerate for about 30 minutes before cutting into the cake. When it is extremely hot we do take measures to preserve the integrity of the cakes to the best of our ability but it can be a challenge with temperatures soaring above 115 degrees. Click Here to read our military families testimonials. {If there is evidence of ingredient breakdown indicating the integrity of the cake is in question then it is not recommended for consumption}

Please DO NOT submit an order if your troop receives mail via truck convoy. This indicates they are on an outlying remote operating base. The package could be under extreme mishandling conditions causing the contents to be compromised, and we will not be held responsible. It is best for you to double check with your troop to see how mail is delivered to their base. And if your packages take longer than 10 days to arrive at the location then we DO NOT recommend sending a cake especially in the hot months!

13. What if the cake to APO/FPO is delayed, is in bad condition or does not arrive at all?

With advanced notice we can prepare the cake for an up to 14 day trip. We use USPS priority boxes with appropriate precautionary labeling. We provide you with a tracking number once the package has shipped so you can confirm the transit. We do our best to secure the cake for shipping, but once in military hands the package may be in for a "bumpy ride". We cannot be responsible for unforeseen military delays that may cause the cake to arrive in less than perfect shape, after the desired date or in very rare circumstances not at all. We can not authorize refund or replacement of the treats sent to APO/FPOs for the following reasons:

  • 1. Priority Mail itself does not have a guarantee.
  • 2. Priority Mail is a non-refundable service.
  • 3. Transit times will vary depending on operational conditions and the unit of the addressee. Those in established bases should continue to receive regular service, while those in forward areas or engaged in operations may experience longer arrival times due to logistical constraints.
  • 4. Coverage is not provided for consequential losses, delay, spoilage of perishable items or prohibited articles.

We appreciate all our military families and understand that sending packages is an expression of love and support.

14. What if I want to send a cake to a service member on a ship, do you deliver?

We will no longer accept orders to be delivered to a ship. We have attempted to accept addresses for cakes to be delivered to military ships at sea and those expected at a port, however there were inevitable delays that compromised the integrity of the cakes and even the cookies for consumption. Mail drops to ships are done at intervals and if we miss a pickup the package will remain in a holding facility until the next date which could be days or weeks.

15. I want to send a cake to my son/daughter away at college, do you deliver to dormitories?

Yes we can deliver to your son/daughter as long as you provide a current mailing address with a US zip code. We ship priority air through the US postal service and deliveries can even be to a PO Box on campus. Each campus has their own mail distribution procedure and it may be that your student will receive a notice saying that there is a package waiting for them. It is our strong recommendation that you alert your son/daughter that a special perishable treat is on the way so they can be on the lookout for it!

16. Why does the USPS scan show that my package appears to still be in CA?

Please do not worry the treat is on the way! The scan you see shows the original ship date when we dropped it off to the post office and unfortunately military package scans are seldom updated after that. It can take up to 14 days for the packages to be received and in rare circumstances a little longer so please be patient.

17. Why do I see this message "Dispatched from USPS International Service Center" when checking the USPS scan and nothing else updated after that?

When you check the USPS site you may see: Status: Dispatched from USPS International Service Center. Your item has been dispatched from the Los Angeles, CA or KEARNY, NJ or Elk Grove/Chicago, IL or Miami, FL International Service Center on {DATE} at {TIME}. That means the package has left the states and it's on the way to the APO/FPO and usually will arrive within a week of that date.

18. Just wondering what the status of my order is because I didn't received a confirmation that the cake was sent.

Confirmations are emailed after 5:30 pm PT on the day of shipping. The email will include the USPS tracking number & photograph of the cake. If you do not see it in your inbox please double check the spam folder it could very well be there. If after checking the spam and you do not see it just send an email to customerservice@wireacake.com and we will be happy to check on that for you.
